Who we are

Pragmedic Limited is the strategy advisory firm founded in 1998 by Dr Brian D Smith.  He delivers most client projects himself and he designs and leads those that require multi-disciplinary teams. 

Brian has worked in the pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors since 1978, first as a research chemist then in an ascending series of marketing and strategy roles in large multinational firms. Since 1998, he has divided his time between research, writing and advising. 

Brian’s research began with his PhD, at Cranfield School of Management, studying strategy effectiveness in medical markets. Subsequently, he examined how firms create insight and, currently, why some firms implement strategy better than others. He is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Open University Business School, Europe’s largest.

His writing includes 150 books, papers and articles. He is the editor of the Journal of Medical Marketing and is published widely in both academic and executive journals. His critically-acclaimed books include “Making Marketing Happen”, “Marketing Due Diligence” and “Creating Market Insight” .
